Not so much barking when you get to the door but barking at you when you enter. He wants you to acknowledge him, pet him, and pet him some more. There is zero hint of aggression in his behavior just an obvious desire for attention.
BUT my father-in-law thinks otherwise. During his most recent visit he warned us that Pineapple has a "mean streak" and could turn "vicious" without warning. I'll agree that he could turn at any moment but I believe that about any dog. However, a mean streak?
The proof that my dog is an inch away from ripping someone's throat out? The "look in his eyes" when FIL walked in the door. Not to mention that "intimidating bark". We tried to explain that the look in Pineapple's eyes was one of begging for love and that dogs bark but it was hopeless.
The cats sleep with him, Nonami rides him like a horse, Not-So-Baby H dresses him up, Teen L takes him on long walks, he snuggles with us every moment that we are seated*, "greets" every dog he sees in a friendly manner, and has never growled or acted twitchy with a stranger.**
In case Pineapple loses his shit I will need to find him a new home. Are there any takers for a short, long mean dog?

*My FIL said this was because Pineapple is insecure. (Biting tongue until it was nearly severed)In case Pineapple loses his shit I will need to find him a new home. Are there any takers for a short, long mean dog?

**Not even remotely guard dog worthy but his bark is deep so that could be a deterrent if no one so him.
