Dear Definity Health

Dear Definity Health,

I realize that you are consumer driven health care which means that it is my responsibility to ask a gazillion questions to ensure that I am receiving the cheapest health care possible. However, I seriously question your recent denial of my claim for a biopsy.

You merrily proclaim that I used a lab outside of the network. I adamantly proclaim that dropping all labs but one from the network without letting anyone know is rather shady.

Additionally, I would like to know at what point I was supposed to ask where my gynecologist was sending my cervical tissue? Should I have asked before I was stripped down to the advertisement laden "sheet"? Or when my vagina was lit up like a Christmas tree? Or when I was wincing in pain after having my cervical tissue taken from my body with medieval looking devices? Or afterwards when I was cramping in pain?

It did not occur to me before or after the appointment to ask where my cervical tissue was being sent. Given that no previous lab claim had ever been denied (or not paid in the appropriate percent), I did not realize I needed to do anything beyond worrying about whether or not I had cancer.

Please let me know when I should have taken custody of my cervical tissue so that I can avoid any future charges. Had I known that I would be billed $100 I just might have decided to hand carry my cervical snippings to a Labcorp lab in between doubling over from the painful cramps.

Sincerely (since it sounds nicer than bite my ass),
ccw
