Jenn from The Upbeat Divorcee and Jessica from Daughter of Opinion have both nominated me for being a Thinking Blogger. A big thank you to both! You have both provided me with inspiration, support, and plenty of laughter.
The rules are as follows:
1. If, and only if, you get tagged, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think
2. Link to this post so that people can easily find the exact origin of the meme
3. Optional: Proudly display the 'Thinking Blogger Award' with a link to the post that you wrote (here is an alternative silver version if gold doesn't fit your blog).
Since, I have two nominations I will tag ten people. Difficult choice to make because every blog I read gives something back to me.
1. KLee at The Reluctant Prophet. Not only is she my taller twin but she is witty, honest, and one of the kindest people I have ever "met". Her honesty about painful past experiences, dealing with evil Girl Scout mothers, taking on kindergarten renegades, and weight issues make her a must read.
2. Sarahlynn at Yeah, but Houdini Didn't Have These Hips. I love Sarahlynn's blog because she is so open. Her posts about Ellie allow us to have a peek at the highs and lows of raising a child with Down Syndrome while always revealing the fierce love she has for her daughter. She is a feminist, a wonderful mother to two beautiful daughters, and an inspiration to me.
3. Casey at Expectant Waiting. I started reading shortly before the birth of her second daughter and I was immediately hooked. Her posts were honest and filled with the snark that I love. Through all the ups and downs, her writing has remained naked and full of emotion. She opens herself up in a way that would frighten many people. I love her for being a brave, strong, woman who also makes me laugh.
4. Dr. Zombieswan at Zombieswan. She was one of my first commenters back when my blog was more angst ridden feminist and less mommy. Her blog was one of my first forays into reading about feminist issues. Now, she no longer procrastinates and her blog is shared by the cutest twins ever but there is still plenty or running commentary mixed in with daily life. In fact it was the twins' hospital pictures that made us decide we wanted a third child. So, I really owe her a big thank you!
5. Sue at Inner Dorothy and 6. Rev. Dr. Mom because their blogs provide me with a sense of peace. I am often at odds with my faith because of the way it is so perverted by the right wing conservatives but reading their blogs reminds me that every church isn't that way and that there certainly is room for many faiths and beliefs.
7. Sheri at Days of Deerledge . Whether discussing the sloppy kids in the cafeteria or her husband's use of a shirt for toilet paper, she never fails to make me laugh. Then, there are the posts about her daughter and husband that are so filled with love it is impossible not to tear up. I will count myself lucky if I Mr. MFBA and I are even half as successful in our relationship.
8. Kate at One Tired Ema. What's not to love? She's smart, funny, and teaches me things about Judaism that I would never know. Our little ones are the same age, for all intents and purposes, so I can always be certain that I will relate to what she is posting.
9. Lemony at Lemon Parade. A newer read for me, her posts leave me howling and wondering if we do not have the same children. While mainly humorous there are deeply personal and moving posts in the mix.
10. Liz at Mystery Mommy. She's a student, a wife, and a mother. There are politics, leakage, potty triumphs, and fantastic artwork. It's impossible not to instantly like and admire and Liz. Plus, reading about her son's obvious ease at being a ladies man at such a young age is a hoot.
